So many of us are taking account of our habits and routines at this time of year. Of course, this is something I’m asked about all the time in the treatment room. The approach that I’ve seen work so well over the years, and which aligns with my own philosophy of holistic living, is to start any new phase by asking, where can I simplify? What can I let go of first, before adding anything new to my routine?  

This simplicity first approach might mean adjusting your dietary habits to reduce sugar and processed foods in order to benefit from your holistic skin care routine. It might mean streamlining your schedule in order to make time for movement and exercise. Or you might let go of late night streaming to make room for more sleep. Bringing kind conscious awareness to the lifestyle factors that support your goals not only optimizes all your efforts, it keeps your routine sustainable. And more than that, this paring down and refining process helps us see what is most essential, and all the things for which we can be grateful.
