LOVE + ROSES

 

Every year the arrival of Valentine’s Day offers such a good invitation to slip into what I like to call a Rose state of mind. Our connection to the Rose is centuries old, and this beautiful plant remedy is revered for its ability to help strengthen and rejuvenate the skin, to be sure, but also for its capacity to unravel stress, giving us the feeling that we are surrounded by unconditional, divine love. Rose opens the heart, but also allows us to sink into a blissful state of surrender. And what could be better for the whole being than falling into the easy calm and nurturing strength of this essence?

You can experience its beauty in so many ways—adding a drop of Rose essence to a bath, or, before bedtime applying a drop to the bottoms of the feet, where it absorbs so easily. You might even dot a handkerchief with a dot of Rose essence to keep in your bag. But my favorite expression of Rose has to be Bulgarian Rose Water—everyday I treat my skin to this favorite floral toner and sometimes I use it as a body spray.

No matter where life takes you this month, I hope you’ll have time to spend with the Roses, a perfect example of the everyday miracle that is our connection with the plant kingdom.
