EXTEND SUMMER

Summer’s end is a great time to exfoliate the skin and extend summer’s glow. Tammy shares her nuanced understanding of when, how and why to exfoliate…

Q: What’s your favorite way to exfoliate?

TAMMY WRITES: You can really make that summer glow last by buffing the skin gently with micro-exfoliating Epi-Peel then leave the formula to sit for 10 minutes. I use a gommage technique to remove the mask, whisking away the dried clay base, which bonds to dead surface cells, excess oils and potential toxins from the skin. The process leaves the complexion remarkably soft, supple and fresh.

Q: Why exfoliate instead of peel?

TAMMY WRITES: While we use natural peels in the Spa—and never chemical peels, which can damage the skin—I always recommend gentle exfoliation between facial treatments. Respecting the skin’s natural protective barrier helps retain moisture and keep the skin looking radiant over the long-run, without depleting the skin or damaging its integrity.

Q: What’s your favorite way to incorporate exfoliation into your routine?

TAMMY WRITES: These days I love sculpting and contouring with our Quartz Gua Sha tool, following with a gentle buffing wash with Epi-Peel, blended with Spearmint, Rosemary and Kaolin Clay. With circulation activated, stagnancy dissolves, and through exfoliation any dullness or buildup is removed from the skin’s surface. This brings so much vibrancy to the skin, and especially when you press 1 to 2 drops of ultra-nourishing Quintessential Serum into the complexion to finish.

Q: What are the benefits of exfoliation?

TAMMY WRITES: Using a gentle exfoliator like Epi-Peel up to 3 times a week doesn’t overwork the skin, though it keeps the renewal process active, which brings out a natural radiance. Additionally, microcirculation generated through the process helps support the detoxification system, removing potential toxins from the tissue and delivering essential nutrients to every level of the skin tissue. At the same time, when we remove dead surface cells it’s that much easier for all the rich nutrients infused into our moisturizing crèmes and serums to absorb deeply into the skin.

Q: How do you benefit from full-body exfoliation?

There’s nothing like the head-to-toe feeling of exfoliating with Epi-Body Polish. This formula really draws out impurities, including, during late summer, any sunscreen buildup. Bulgarian Lavender Body Oil.
